This is a digital download pdf (e-book) pattern for a  children’s henley style hooded or collared top. Age range 2-14.

The Hawthorn Harvester Hoodie has been designed as a year round overtop. Perfect for layering on cool summer evenings or as a go to top for colder weather.

It has a henley style opening which can be closed with snaps, buttons or tabs. There is a tank – bodywarmer/gilet option or a sleeved version.  It features a collar and 2 hood types, round and short pixie. It is perfect for layering

There are also 2 pocket options. Side pockets and a front opening pouch pocket that can be covered with a flap opening. The pouch pocket is especially handy for keeping treasures or toy friends safe

This is a true over top hooded design. It has been designed with about 4cm, 1.5″ ease in both front and back so it can be worn comfortably as outerwear over other tops. It is not supposed to be a tightly fitted top. Please keep this in mind when choosing your sizes to sew.

Materials Information
You will need a sewing machine with a stretch stitch. You can also use an overlocker/serger but you need the sewing machine for top stitching. Either machine will need to be able to sew through multiple layers if making the pouch pocket with a flap. You may need to adjust your machines setting for layers. This should be in your manual.

Top stitching – a walking foot is recommended if using a sewing machine for top stitching and hemming. With lighter knits, a stitch length of 3.5-4 is recommended. With heavier knits, use 4.5-5.
Seam allowance is 3/8”, 1cm throughout (unless mentioned otherwise).

Suitable for 4 way stretch fabrics with at least 30% stretch each way or two way stretch with at least 50% stretch. They should be thicker knit based fabrics with some structure like a medium weight Cotton Lycra (CL) or a cotton based French Terry (FT). Soft drapey fabrics are not recommended for this top.
Iron on interfacing fabric

Threads suitable for the stretch fabric of choice.
Clips or pins. I have mainly used clips throughout. Where I have mentioned clips/clipping, pins may also be used. When I have used pins, then pins should be used for those methods.
Buttons/ and or Kam snaps. Buttons should be at least 2.5cm+ to be in proportion.
