Fit information:

The ease of this pattern is around 4cm-6cm in the bodice area. This will vary depending on the fabric chosen. It is supposed to be a relaxed fit in the chest and to flare out over the hips to the skirt in an A-line style.
Please note that ages 11-14 in the dress length have a slightly longer skirt proportion on purpose as tester feedback indicated that the models would prefer slightly more length.

Materials information:

You will need either a sewing machine with a stretch stitch or an overlocker/serger. Top stitching is recommended.

Threads suitable for the stretch fabric of choice.

Clips or pins.

Top stitching – a walking foot is recommended if using a sewing machine for top stitching.

This pattern is suitable for 2 or 4 way stretch (knits, jersey) fabrics with a 50%+ stretch in one direction. Fabrics should be lightweight and have drape for the best effect e.g. summer/lightweight cotton lycra, double brushed poly, single brushed poly, rayon, viscose, bamboo, modal and fabrics which behave similar to these.

Cotton lycra, swim fabric and heavier fabrics can and have been used but they will give a more structured look to the garment and will have less ease. They will also not drop or hang the same and may appear shorter than the lightweight fabrics.
Trim can be made up from strips of the lighter fabrics or you can use a ready made one. It needs to be light and can be woven like lace or chiffon.
